Tax calculator
Calculate the possible federal and cantonal deduction per child without a misleading flat savings estimate.
How the childcare tax deduction works
For tax period 2026, parents may deduct up to CHF 25,800 per child in proven third-party childcare costs for direct federal tax. Cantons apply their own caps and, in some cases, special rules.
The family must bear the net costs for a child in the same household who has not yet reached age 14. The care must be directly related to employment, education, or inability to work or provide care. For parents living together, both must be prevented from providing care for one of those reasons.
Enter only the amount remaining after subsidies, employer contributions, and non-deductible meals.
